Travel Diary: Lazing around in Negombo

27/09/2014
3rd September - Negombo
First on the agenda ... a pool day.  We missed breakfast so headed out for lunch and found a beach side restaurant, Tastees, and had a proper rice and curry served on what looked like a prison tray but it was really good costing less than last night with a mammoth amount of food and a beer (Rs 2332).

We headed back to the pool and managed to get a couple of hours in before the rain came.  It was quite tranquil though so we sat it out under the brolley.  All along Negombo beach are crows which squawk all day long so there is no chance of peace.

In the evening, out into the rain to find more curry and found a restaurant recommended by Lonely Planet, Lords.  This curry is epic.  Somehow we still had room for dessert!  This restaurant is more expensive and add on 10% service and 12% VAT!  It is run by an English bloke who looks like Prodigy!  For entertainment there was a small Sri Lankan man with a keyboard and a mic. He is one of the best impersonators we've ever seen.  There aren't really any bars here only restaurants so we headed home.  I think Negombo is more a stop over as it's near the airport and not a place to stay for a holiday.

4th September - Negombo
{Shaun} After a sleepless night due to feeling very uncomfortable physically and emotionally  we decided to take a walk along the beach before breakfast. We saw the local fishermen climbing and fishing off these thin single stick like structures rising from the beach, looks pretty uncomfortable.  We ate breakfast and headed out for a wonder around the town. After a short walk we discovered there wasn't much to see so headed to the pool for a few hours.
In the evening we decided it was a good time to open our bottle of champers, a celebratory gift from Jodie's parents for our engagement. We drank out by the pool and headed to our new favourite restaurant Lords.  This time Jodie ordered a giant tiger prawn dish which was amazing, and a nice change from curry 3 times a day.
