6 incredible cafes for breakfast in Fremantle

18/02/2016
My favourite thing to do on the weekend is go out for a leisurely breakfast and that is exactly why I love living in Fremantle, Western Australia.  Fremantle has a plethora of cute cafes, industrial warehouse cafes and start ups of just about every shape, size and budget.  I've got to admit it was pretty tough to narrow this list down but here are my favourites.

The Shipping Lane, North Fremantle

1 Freeman Loop, North Fremantle WA 6159 Anything you select on the menu you will not be disappointed with.  I would personally recommend The Shipping Lane Breakfast, it's the best breakfast I've had in Perth, nope, make that Australia! The vibe is chilled, with sandy feet surfers strolling in off Leighton Beach but also retains an upmarket atmosphere with very cool decor made of shipping containers. IMG_20151031_122003

The Surfing Lizard, Munster

@surfinglizard

Coogee Beach, Munster, WA 6166 This beach cafe puts a lot of heart into the food on their menu.  Everything is super yummy but my favourite is the Smoked Salmon with Bacon Rosti.  They also do uber healthy, gluten free treats.

May Street Larder, East Fremantle

@maystreetlarder

23/155 Canning Hwy, East Fremantle WA 6158 Another favourite here.  May Street Larder pride themselves in using local produce.  They offer an assortment of raw, paleo and organic options.  Best on the menu is the Soul Sandwich; an odd concoction of chicken, polenta waffles, maple syrup and chillies.  Strange but it works.

The Fib, East Fremantle

The Fremantle Fibonacci Centre, 19 Blinco Street, Fremantle The Fib has a very eclectic quintessential Freo vibe.  It is so chilled out in fact that we ate breakfast with a chilled-out trio jamming on their ucalalies.  The warehouse is used for up and coming businesses to get off the ground before moving into Freo or the city.  Half of the warehouse is currently The Fib cafe, with an art studio out the back, hairdressers to the side and yoga studio up the top.  The food is delicious with paleo options and delicious cake

The Roasting Warehouse, South Fremantle

312 South Terrace, South Fremantle WA 6162 The Roasting Warehouse, as the name suggests, is a coffee roasting warehouse and an amazing cafe.  Best on the menu is the coffee smoked salmon, of course with a delicious, freshly roasted coffee on the side. The Roasting Warehouse

The Cool Room, East Fremantle

114 Holland St, Fremantle WA 6160 The Cool Room is a retro vintage cafe with a tiny little kitchen that pours passion into every dish.  And if their decor is not enough to keep you amused there is a fantastic vintage op shop next door.   I'd love to hear your Freo favourites so I can check them out. If we can get your Ma and Pa to live in a shipping container whilst they are between homes, maybe they could make their own version of the Shipping Lane. Go down a bomb in Guernsey – something different, eh? xxx

    Loved The Shipping Lane Jodie, so glad you took us there. And I’m very excited to see this post! It’s an odd experience returning to ‘normal’ life back home, I seem to forget on a daily basis where I actually am in the world, like now for instance, I thought ooh Al the breakfasts sound amazing, must try it but then I wonder if or when I’ll ever step foot back in Oz. (Also heard of a cafe in NZ which looked good and thought how I’d have to try it, then again worked out it will be a while…)
